An experienced, happy cook that is extremely flexible and able to handle last minute changes of numbers and plans calmly is required for a privately owned villa in St Tropez. The clients will have had a cook for the month of July, and this cook will be taking over from them.
The main Family consists of 5 people - with 22/20/17 yo kids, who will bring friends - so busy, loud environment with lots of hungry young mouths to feed. Numbers will range from 5-8 people but there is a week in August where they are 14, and flexibility must be required if numbers increase.
Meals required: Lunch and dinner - buffet style - occasionally they may ask for formal plated. Presentation should be modern, fresh, creative and the cook needs to enjoy presenting platter style food with lots of colour and variety. The male principal does not eat fish, but everyone else likes fish, so options for all needed. One daughter is dairy free and they prefer gluten free - healthy food in general and the chef MUST be used to handling different dietary requests, including vegan if needed.
Not a formal environment, but the client does not want to have to keep talking to the cook about menus - once the cook is established and knows what the family like/do not like, the cook need to be confident and experienced and able to go to the shops and buy and cook with the produce available without having their hand held, or needing a lot of support/communication.
The cook must be able to drive and will need to drive to the shops, so must be confident with driving in France. The cook will need to drive to shops outside of St Tropez to get produce. Someone who has worked there before and knows the area is advantageous.
Accommodation attached to the house in own room and bathroom. There is a french house keeper that helps with clearing plates and washing them etc, but the cook has to be happy to wash up their cooking things and keep kitchen organised, and just muck in really with anything needed - this is not suited to a chef that wants a sous chef, KP etc! They need to be used to working in busy private homes and able to cope with cooking for changing numbers.
Kitchen has a breakfast table in - the cook does not need to do b fast as they are usually out shopping 8-10am and busy so the clients will sort this themselves, unless the cook has time to prepare something.
The client would like to interview and trial any potential chefs. There will be one day off a week, but the day will change depending on what is happening each week. This job is for a professional career cook, not for someone wanting a holiday. It is a busy job and a good standard is required.
