#1373 - Full Time Cook and household PA required – Oxford and Cotswolds – Live Out - Monday to Friday - £70,000

To start ASAP.

A full time, permanent professional, organised cook is required for a family of 4 based in Oxford and near Stow on the Wold. This is a Monday to Friday position for 4 people (2 kids, 2 adults). Ideally the cook will live out so will be within driving distance to Stow on the Wold and Oxford. Accommodation might be available for the right person but the family would rather someone already settled in the Oxford/Cotswolds area. Flexibility to work a weekend, if the clients are entertaining (with notice) is important but this is quite rare. You will largely be based in Oxford, with some Fridays near Stow on the Wold. Flexibility to work between the two homes is key. You must be a driver with your own car.

There are a few diet requirements but they are not too difficult and all food is served very simple family style/sharing. Cook to provide lunch and dinner Monday to Friday, plus healthy snacks for the fridge and leaving food for the weekend in the fridge for the clients to re-heat/help themselves to.

Healthy, seasonal, organic style food, all cooked from scratch - that is simple but delicious is their preferred choice - they love Nigel Slater style cooking. The cook must be flexible, and happy to help out in other areas of the household when not busy. Important the candidate has a flexible approach and is friendly and happy to help out with all and everything.

A really flexible, can do, muck in attitude is essential. The family have a housekeeper, but the cook must be happy to help out in all areas of the house organisation, be organised and enjoy running a home. Some household admin duties will include, but not limited to tasks such as:

  • Taking the patio cushions from the Farm in Upper Swell to Oxford

  • ordering a trackable collar for the dog

  • make reservations

  • make returns

  • run errands

  • Walk the dog

This is a long term ongoing role and reliability is important. During term time the household is quiet as the children are at school, but home in the evenings for dinner. Sometimes you will only prepare lunch for one person, but it depends who is in the house. There is also a nanny and housekeeper that you would work alongside with, and you must be able to work well as a team.

The cook should be independent and able to think on their own feet, and use their initiative. This is a lovely job for someone based in the Cotswolds looking for a long term Monday to Friday position working in a private household. Essential the candidate has had previous private household experience.

Jobs to include, but not limited to: 

  • Menu Planning in line with clients requests/requirements 

  • Sourcing of all food supplies and stock 

  • Cooking and preparing of all dishes/meals as requested by client 

  • Serving food and clearing tables at mealtimes 

  • Cleaning kitchen, and all kitchen appliances 

  • Organising Kitchen Cupboards and Fridges/Freezers, keeping clean and organised at all times 

  • Reporting and dealing with maintenance issues for any kitchen appliances 

  • Food stock take and control 

  • Household management/Admin/PA duties/Ad hoc errands at the request of the client 

  • The family have a dog, so the cook must be happy working around dogs, and helping with the dog when necessary.

Salary depends on experience and expectations, but up to £70,000 for the right person. Job is paid on a payroll with statutory holiday and pension allowance.
